The Super Solano Professional hair dryer certainly belongs in the high-end of salon styling tools. The features that come with it as standard are impressive and it really does do a great job of styling even the most difficult of hair types. While I would definitely have no hesitation in recommending it, there are a couple of things to be aware of.
Designed and made in Italy, this blow dryer was featured in the 'Best of Buys' in the April 2006 edition of InStyle magazine. It's not hard to see why it does well in hair dryer reviews. It does have a pretty hefty price tag but you do get a lot for your money and you can rest assured that you'll be getting a 'professional' salon hair tool if you decide to buy it. Here are some reasons why it's been rated so high.
First off, any blow dryer that's going to dry hair quickly and effectively must have a large AC motor. The Super Solano comes with an 1875 watt motor, which is larger than other dryers in its price category.
There are five heat and two speed settings and you have a cold-shot button. Again, it scores well here. I've seen higher priced dryers that feature a paltry 2 temp/2 speed setting with no cold button.
You also get 2 concentrator nozzles; a fiberlass one and a metal one. As you'd expect it also features a removable and washable air filter.
The dryer is also very well balanced; the front-end doesn't feel heavy when you use the appliance. However, this brings us to the first tiny complaint I have; it is a little on the heavy side, weighing 3lbs. Other comparable makes like the CHI ceramic hair dryer weigh half this. If you already find your current blow dryer a little heavy, check how much it weighs; if it weighs less than 3lbs then you're definitely going to find the Solano a little too heavy.
My only other complaint is that the dryer doesn't come with a diffuser. You can buy the diffuser separately, but when you're already paying big bucks for a dryer it would be nice if the diffuser was included.
However, these two points are pretty minor ones. My overall review of the Super Solano hair dryer gives it top marks for build quality, functionality and, above all, styling results. It may have a high price tag but it's worth every cent.
